The Trip to the US – Part 2 : The Las Vegas Experience

So, there I was… in Las Vegas… at my room… looking out the window… what a view! I was staying on the 24th floor of the Monte Carlo Hotel & Resort (Or Resort & Casino, as preferred by the Hotel/Casino). The rooms were amazingly nice… the first thing I realized is that the Television was a totally pay-affair! You had some of the basic channels on for free… but they were very limited and boring… the hotel charged for most of the interesting and more engaging content. One thing to notice, was that the entire television program selection is completely centralized!

The Trip to the US – Part 1

Yes, I’m back! I returned back from the US on the 9th of July. I know it’s been over a week and I haven’t posted… but then there’s a lot of things to be done after which I can post here without worrying about them. So finally I get some time… and here I am! (Bon Jovi – Here I am)

One of my friends from K. K. Wagh, Deepak Dayama, is studying in University of Southern California, Los Angeles. I reached Los Angeles on the 23rd evening… I met Deepak who was waiting for me outside the airport at the receiving place. We took the shuttle to USC campus, more precisely, 2620, Ellendale Place, North University Campus. This is where I was staying while in LA. His friend (Nainesh), who had actually made the arrangement for me to stay in a room with a guy named Ashish.

It’s been quite a long time since I posted a blog! In fact it’s been over a month! So finally here’s the low-down on what’s happening!

Recently, (2nd April to be precise) I found out that my research paper titled “Implementing a Cellular Positioning System: Low-cost Alternative to Global Positioning System” had been selected as a Regular Research Paper at the International Conference on Wireless Networks, to be held at the Monte Carlo Resort & Hotel, Las Vegas, USA. This is a very significant development in my life. This is a proof that I have the capability to research, and that I can stand among the best with my head held high! There were a lot of people who had a lot of faith in my abilities and talent. To name a few, Bedekar Sir, Deshpande Madam and Bhamre Madam from among the lecturers in college. These people have been very helpful, supportive and proactive in my development as a student and researcher since I took up admission into K. K. Wagh College of Engineering (now, K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research).
