There is a specific flavor to the taste that most of us Indians have. We want things quick and easy, spicy and succulent, more bang for the buck, and as long as it’s cheap, we don’t mind inferior quality. Now don’t start complaining that I am talking about “us” in a very negative outlook! There are the positives to be had from such an outlook. But let’s look at the finer things that matter to us in the “now”!

There’s nothing like a good game on a relaxed Sunday morning! And I don’t mean just sitting in front of the television and watching someone else play! So, what was I doing out instead of lazing around on a Sunday?
Saturday Morning:: Dad tells me that there’s a cricket match, and I’m supposed to play in his place. “What match?”, I ask him. “It’s the Bharat Petroleum Employees vs. Distributors friendly match”, he says. Now for those of you who have visited http://www.padekar.com , you will probably be knowing that we are distributors for Bharat Petroleum’s LPG division. So, as a matter of courtesy, I took up the offer. (The fact that I wanted to see what kind of form I was in after such a long break, was another matter altogether!)

As those of you who have been reading this site know, I was in Delhi last week, to present my concept on the framework for a Smart System for a Contextual Location Based Service Provision Technology. The main feature of the Concept was the introduction of a new Locating Technology that could work as an alternative to the Global Positioning System (GPS). We call it the Cellular Positioning System (CPS). The MapIndia conference was at the Taj Palace in Delhi, and when I had looked at the website for the conference, I realized that what I was going to, was a real serious Industry-oriented conference! It isn’t students who just come together to compete and win prizes here! No way!! It was a Conference where Industry, Government and Academic Institutions came together to exchange ideas and views.

I’m back from my sojourn to IIT Bombay, and man was it an experience, or what?! There were positives, there were negatives, but some of the events had HUGE, and I mean HUGE shortcomings! Most noticably, this year the management was extremely poor! There seemed to be the lack of coordination between various departments and committees! That lack of coordination, almost cost people their lives at the Technoholix events at night, that is, at least in the first evening!

Hey everyone… it’s been a week… an eventful one too! Been pretty busy… working on the project, work at home, guests, the whole deal! But it’s time I took a break. It’s been quite a busy time ever since December, with office work and Exams starting, followed up by more office work, University Applications, Project work, and so much more! Finally, I get to let my hair down (sort of!) and go to Bombay for attending IIT’s Techfest (check my previous log). It’s not all fun, there’s a one day workshop on Firewalls that I’ve been selected for. So that’s going to be work, but of course, that subject’s more like a pleasure than a pain!
Nothing else to really talk about… I’m kind of running on auxiliary batteries myself right now! So here’s the log for this day, week and probably the last one for this month. I’ll definitely make it a point to put up the photos that I’ll be taking at Techfest. Be sure to have a look when I get back! For now, adios!
