It’s been quite a long time since I posted a blog! In fact it’s been over a month! So finally here’s the low-down on what’s happening!

Recently, (2nd April to be precise) I found out that my research paper titled “Implementing a Cellular Positioning System: Low-cost Alternative to Global Positioning System” had been selected as a Regular Research Paper at the International Conference on Wireless Networks, to be held at the Monte Carlo Resort & Hotel, Las Vegas, USA. This is a very significant development in my life. This is a proof that I have the capability to research, and that I can stand among the best with my head held high! There were a lot of people who had a lot of faith in my abilities and talent. To name a few, Bedekar Sir, Deshpande Madam and Bhamre Madam from among the lecturers in college. These people have been very helpful, supportive and proactive in my development as a student and researcher since I took up admission into K. K. Wagh College of Engineering (now, K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research).

Not even in my wildest dreams had I imagined in 2001, that by the time I am completing my course in Computer Engineering, I would have presented research/review papers at every level from Regional, State, National and International levels! The previous International Conference I presented at was held at the Taj Palace in New Delhi. That Conference was an experience that I will never forget in my life! Partly due to the fact that I was able to interact and gather praise from everyone including head-honchos from the corporate world, and scientists from the Defense Research and Development Organization! I never expected that I would be face to face with such people, and that I would be getting respect from them about my work! I think the proudest moment that I had was when one of the Corporates actually offered me a high paying job, right there! Without an interview! Although I think my presentation and replies to his queries were an interview enough for him! That was what I considered to be the epitome of my career! The peak of where I could be! But how wrong I was… the best was yet to come!

When I received the mail from the Conference’s General Chair, saying that my paper had been selected, I think that was the best moment of my life…! Can you imagine working for years on end, toiling away, without getting any form of success? Just think of how long a person waits in life to be successful in something… and then finally achieves it! Nay… it would be foolhardy to state that I have “achieved” something! I have but taken a step! A step that holds so much value that I would give a lot up in my life for it! Most people would not understand what it is like to have your dream-work to be appreciated by people. It is nothing short of an appreciation of your hard work to be selected for such a prestigious Conference. Attending a conference is one thing, but to present your work there is quite another! I would definitely like to thank the organizers of the Conference to have given me the opportunity to attend this pinnacle of technical conferences, especially since this is the field that I have so much familiarity with, and so much interest in!

Among some of the other developments, my project group and I participated in a Project Exhibition-cum-Contest this month and I’m glad to say that our project, “OffsiteAdmin” was selected among the best two projects in the entire event. The contest was organized by the Computer Society of India (CSI) and was a regional event involving many colleges from in and around Nashik City. I believe we have something very significant in our hands. Something that’s a very powerful tools for a Network Administrator!

I also received my US visa this month. We hear a lot of stories about how difficult it is to get a visa and how tough all the conditions are! But the fact of the matter is, if you are really honest and no wrong intentions, then they will not be troubling you either. The people from the consulate were very helpful and nice.

Well, there really isn’t much else! I have just submitted the final copy of my paper… now I await their response…!

Will post more views soon!
